Job Title: Procurement Engineer – Carpentry & Joinery Division Job Location: Doha, Qatar Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and technically proficient Procurement Engineer to dedicate to our Carpentry and Joinery Division. In this role, you will lead the sourcing, technical valuation, and commercial purchasing of premium wood materials, specialized hardware, ironmongery, and decorative accents. You will act as the bridge between technical workshop design and global supply chains, analyzing complex joinery shop drawings and Bills of Quantities (BOQs) to ensure precise material takeoffs, robust cost savings, and on-time site deliveries. Key Responsibilities: Technical Takeoffs: Analyze architectural fit-out packages, detailed joinery/carpentry shop drawings, and BOQs to accurately extract exact material specs and volume requirements. Vendor Pre-Qualification: Identify, build networks with, and evaluate local and international suppliers for premium timber, exotic veneers, engineered boards, glass, and hardware. Commercial Negotiation: Solicit competitive bids, execute technical and commercial price comparisons, and aggressively negotiate favorable payment terms and volume discounts. Material Approvals: Assemble required technical submittals, vendor certifications, and physical material samples to clear quick approvals with consultants and client representatives. Order Management: Issue formal Purchase Orders through internal ERP systems and strictly track manufacturing milestones. Logistics Oversight: Coordinate with freight forwarders and customs clearance agents to track shipping timelines for international shipments, ensuring zero workshop downtime. Value Engineering: Identify opportunities to propose cost-saving, alternative materials that maintain original aesthetic and structural design parameters. Qualifications & Experience Requirements: Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Wood Technology, or a related technical domain. Experience: 3 to 5+ years of dedicated procurement experience handling joinery, high-end interior fit-outs, luxury furniture fabrication, or architectural woodwork. Industry Knowledge: Deep structural understanding of timber classifications, grading, processing, wood finishes, veneers, and international ironmongery/hardware standards. Software Competency: High proficiency in MS Excel, AutoCAD, and major ERP systems (SAP/Oracle).
